Mason's Pumpkin & Fall :)

The Countdown: 11 Days!

Our appointment that was rescheduled happened today.  Everything looked good- Dr. Leazenby says I’m measuring right on and Mason’s heartbeat sounds good.  I’m excited that he’s also in the correct position to rock and roll.  Sydney had turned breech at the last minute which required me to have a C-section.  We’re hoping I can go as natural as possible (epidural is ok, but we’re hoping to stay away from a C-section and pitocin is not an option--- With Pitocin (a synthetic oxytocin that your body naturally produces) and a prior C-section, the pitocin can speed things up so fast that makes that C-section scar more prone to not so good things… So yep, Pitocin is not an option at all.)  Anyway, with my blood clotting issues, Dr. Leazenby is wanting to stay away from a C-section if at all possible as a surgery of that type could potentially be hazardous to my health- literally.

My weight gain is decent (although higher than I'd like) and things are going good.  I have been contracting here and there, but nothing that stays really consistent for long periods of time although a few of them have been real doozies.

Oh, and after a really long time of trying to grow out my hair, I got it cut off last week.  I like it though.  So, tune in folks, we’ll keep you posted both here (as much as we can) and on Facebook as to when Mason decides to makes his grand arrival!
(<--- not the best picture in the world with my phone, but eh, you get the point :)

Oh, and had to share our pumpkins with you all :)--

<--- just barely 38 weeks with Mason's pumpkin :)

Less than 3 weeks to go!

Got a voicemail this morning that we needed to reschedule our appointment tomorrow for either today or next week- all is going well, lots of baby movement, so next Wednesday it is :)  As of today we have 19 more days to go (until our due date of November 8th)- so next Wednesday puts us at 12 days to go!  Getting bigger and having more and more contractions, but yep, everything is going well.

My mom treated me to a pedicure Monday that was sooo heavenly and I’m considering another massage for next week as it was heavenly too!  As you can see in the picture (below), my tootsies are a little swollen, but nothing major.  We’ll keep you posted.

PS: Yesterday, Sydney, Blake, and I cleaned out the car to get it ready for Mr. Mason- then when Josh got home, he helped me install his seat!  SO EXCITED!

False Alarm!!!

Wow, we’ve had quite the interesting week so far- and it’s only Wednesday!!!
Monday night we had our hospital tour- it was the only opening till October 25th which was cutting it a bit close.  The tour was decent enough- I’m a bit disappointed with their in room ‘Jacuzzi’s’ which is really nothing more than a standard size bathtub.  I was hoping for a larger tub that Josh would be able to sit behind me in to offer comfort and relaxation.  For all visitors- parking in Ramp #7 and taking the Skywalk over Michigan Street to the hospital is probably going to be your best bet.  If you bring in your parking card, the information desk might validate it for you so you won’t have to pay to park.  (You can always try J)
Well, (Tuesday) we had another trip to the hospital.  I woke up thinking my water had broke and my doctor recommended I go in to get checked.  After a few hours in Labor & Delivery, let’s just say (unfortunately) it wasn’t my water breaking…. But, the good news is we got to listen to Mason’s heartbeat for a bit and we got to see some contractions I didn’t know I was having.
As I blogged a few days ago, our appointment was rescheduled from Monday to yesterday (Wednesday), which is good because we got to see Dr. Leazenby for the first time today.  He will be the one to deliver Mason as MaryAnne is not able to do VBAC deliveries or C-sections.  He said that the weird (and burning sensation) pain I have right at the tip of my left rib all of the time is from stretching ligaments that connect to my ribcage and that there's not a ton to do about it.  Oh well, good to know it's not anything serious. I put ice on it at nights that makes it feel better.   Plus I gained 5 pounds in two weeks- ick--- has a lot to do with water weight though as my hands and feet are pretty much swollen all of the time- gotta love pregnancy haha.  :)
So anyway, things are going decent enough.  I’m still trying to hustle to get some things done around the house so that I won’t feel so behind when Mason comes, but unfortunately I kind of feel like I’m spinning my wheels and not getting too far.  Oh well- it’ll all be fine.  Mason doesn’t care if everything is in its place or not.

So, until next time!

<-- the gown- nice eh?

<--- This is a self portrait of myself after admitting came in to give me my bracelet, but before the nurse lady came in to let me know that she didn't see any ferns under the microscope meaning my water didn't break.  (If it was amniotic fluid, it'd appear as ferns under a microscope.)

Update on appointment-

Had a voicemail from MaryAnne's office that we needed to reschedule our appointment for today to Wednesday as she is unexpectedly out of the office.  It's ok because on Wednesday we'll see Dr. Leazenby for the first time- he's who will be delivering Mason either way.

I'll keep ya posted....

35 weeks, 3 days (well, the other day...)

Just wanted to pop this picture up that Josh took of me last week to show the progress of the belly :)

Tomorrow is our 36 week appointment and I'm hoping she'll check me and tell me that Mason's fully engaged and ready to rock and roll because I'm certainly ready (I think).  After some power walking last night I had a few more contractions that were a bit more painful than the others, but they didn't last once I got off my feet.  But, I did have a massage last week from a gal named Kyrie at Simply Chiropractic and Massage in Rockford (616-874-8777   http://www.simplychiropracticrockford.chiroweb.com/) that was SOOO relaxing and nice!  I could've ran a marathon that day!

So anyway, I'll let ya'll know how tomorrow goes :)

34 weeks

This week seems to have been a busy week for us, although looking back we didn’t do a whole ton of anything, but I’ve been increasingly more uncomfortable.  This past Monday, we had our 34 week appointment with MaryAnne and all went well.  I gained 3 pounds in two weeks--- that new chocolate milk addiction is definitely ‘sticking’ to me.  So far, I’m up to 28 pounds at 34 weeks, so not horrible, but I need to lay off the chocolate milk haha.  Mason is still in the head down position, so that’s super.  MaryAnne also gave me a shot so Josh could see how a professional does it.  She pushed the medicine in very slowly (and it still burned like crazy) and now I’m scared to do my shots…. I’m trying to get over that.

Last Thursday, Joanna had her baby girl (a few weeks early)- her name is Amelia Jean and is just beautiful.  Even being 4 weeks early I believe she was, she was still 6 pounds, 12 ounces and as I said, she’s just beautiful.  The first time I saw her I got a little teary eyed.  Tuesday I went to Muskegon to hang out with Joanna and the girls.  I got to spend a bit of time with baby Milla and helped with Charley, Tatum, and Tresa.  It was nice to just chat with Joanna too although I think I talked her ear off a lot of the time…

Other than that, I had a School Board meeting this week and Girl Scouts.  Next week is Blake’s last week of the Tuesday/Thursday after school basketball program as well as football practice and games for him.  Next week is also the last week for Sydney’s cheerleading practice/games but she’ll continue her after school running program (‘Run Club’).  (About Run Club- she just started 2 weeks ago I believe it was and she’s loving it.  Yesterday I think she said she ran/walked 5 ½ laps around her school which is a tad bit over 2 miles!  She’s already up over 8 miles since she started.  I’m very proud of her!!!)

So, until next week :)
PS: I can almost officially say- 5 more weeks (or less) until Mason is here!  My guess is October 16th :)  (Due date is November 8th)
